Jharsuguda:Two accused sustained injuries in a police encounter near Karlakhaman area under Belpahar police station in Jharsuguda district early Monday.
As per reports, the accused were allegedly involved in an assault on Sunday and had been absconding. Acting on specific information about their location, police teams reached the spot early this morning. When the police approached them, the accused opened fire, shooting four rounds at the police team. The police retaliated in self-defence, resulting in the encounter.
According to Belpahar IIC, both the accused sustained bullet injuries in their legs. The injured accused have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
