Baripada: A police team, led by Sub-Inspector Krisanta Tigga, apprehended two persons carrying 30 grams of brown sugar on National Highway 18 near Palbani in Mayubhanj district on Friday.
The suspects, identified as Satnam Singh and Sangam Mohanta from Ichinda village under Rairangpur police station, were riding a Bajaj Pulsar bike from Balasore towards Baripada. Upon seeing the police, they attempted to flee, arousing suspicion.
During questioning, they admitted to procuring the brown sugar from Balasore’s Adar Bazaar. They were to sell the contraband items in Rairangpur Town areas. The police seized the contraband and registered a case under the NDPS Act.
Inspector Sumeet Kumar Soren, IIC Baripada Town Police Station, is investigating the case.
