Puri: Town police arrested two persons on charges of killing a minor boy and dumping his body in a waterbody near Shree Setu under Town police limits on Friday.
The accused identified as Aju Pradhan (25) and Sipun Singh (18), were sent to jail after being denied bail in connection with the murder of Surya, son of Loknath Sahu. He was missing since Tuesday. His family members had filed a complaint with Town police.
According to police reports, Surya’s body was found in a field near the Shree Setu on Thursday, and an investigation revealed that he was killed over a monetary dispute. Ajay had borrowed Rs 10,000 from Surya two years ago and failed to repay it despite repeated requests which led to a heated argument between them.
Aju then planned to kill Surya with his accomplice, Sipun. They allegedly killed him after calling him to Shree Setu and dumped his body in a nearby pond.
Meanwhile, police recovered evidence and arrested the duo, charging them with murder (Case No. 695/2025). Their bail was rejected, and they were sent to jail. Sipun has a history of criminal activities, with previous cases registered against him at Baselisahi and Kumbharpada police stations.
