Bhubaneswar: Capital Police arrested two persons on charges of stealing air conditioner (AC) compressors and copper pipes from the Finance Department at Lok Seva Bhavan.

The accused have been identified as Manoj Kumar Das (25) of Tamando and Chandan Palai (27) of Jajpur’s Binjharpur. Police recovered various AC compressor parts and related materials from their possession.

According to the complaint filed by the Deputy Secretary of the Finance Department, seven AC units installed on the roof, ground floor, Sub-Secretary’s chamber, and library had their compressors and copper pipes stolen. The thefts allegedly took place in phases between November 2025 and March 2026 during maintenance and repair work. Security personnel at the Secretariat had detained the two suspects. During interrogation, they reportedly confessed to the theft.

Capital Police registered a case based on the complaint and later produced the accused in court. Further investigation is underway.
