Bhubaneswar: Two brothers were killed after being hit by a passenger train while crossing the railway tracks at Haripur Basti near Rourkela Railway station.
According to reports, the accident took place on Tuesday night around 9 pm. The brothers, identified as Ranjan Patra (17) and Debendra Patra (15), were crossing the tracks, holding hands, when the train hit them. The impact was so severe that both brothers died on the spot.
Rourkela Government Railway Police (GRP) immediately responded to the incident and initiated an investigation.
Meanwhile, the bodies have been kept at Rourkela Government Hospital’s morgue for post-mortem examination. After the autopsy, they will be handed over to the family members.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.
