Two Class VII Students Collapse At Daspalla School After Allegedly Consuming Alcohol

Daspalla (Nayagarh): In a disturbing incident reported from Daspalla High School under Daspalla NAC in Nayagarh district, two Class VII students allegedly fell unconscious on the school premises after consuming alcohol.

According to sources, the students arrived at school in an intoxicated condition and later collapsed. The incident created panic among teachers and fellow students. Upon noticing their condition, the school authorities immediately informed the headmaster.

Headmaster Subas Chandra Sahu said that the parents of the two students were promptly called to the school. “The children had come to school after drinking alcohol at home. Once the matter came to our notice, we informed their family members. After they regained consciousness, they were handed over to their parents,” he stated.

Following the incident, the two students were expelled from the school premises for the day.

However, the mother of one of the students has disputed the school’s claim. She alleged that her son did not consume alcohol at home but instead drank it after mixing with some other children at school.

The incident comes close on the heels of a similar case reported recently from Tikabali in Kandhamal district, where two Class IX students became unconscious in a marketplace after allegedly consuming alcohol.

The recurrence of such incidents has raised concerns among parents and the local administration over easy access to alcohol by minors and the need for stricter monitoring and awareness measures.
