Sambalpur: Two cops have been suspended after three persons arrested on charges of diesel theft escaped from Dhanupali Police Station in Sambalpur district.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Niranjan Pradhan and Constable SN Pradhan have been suspended for negligence of duty.
Reportedly, three persons involved in stealing diesel from trucks parked along the national highway had been nabbed during night patrolling near Sambalpur City railway station on Monday.
While they were to be produced before the court today, they allegedly escaped with the help of a lady sweeper engaged at the police station. While the lady sweeper has been subjected to interrogation, a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused persons.
