Bhubaneswar: Two former BJD MLAs- Bijay Kumar Naik and Surendra Sethi, resigned from the primary membership of the party on Tuesday.
The two former legislators have left the BJD, alleging negligence in the party over ticket allotment.
They sent their resignation letters to BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik separately.
According to reports, former Surendra Sethi was hopeful of a party ticket to contest the poll from Kakatpur Assembly constituency.
In 2019 election, BJD had allotted him a ticket and later took it back. The party had replaced him with Tusharkanti Behera. This time, the party has again fielded Tusharkanti.
Similarly, former MLA of Karanjia in Mayurbhanj district, Bijay Kumar Naik resigned from BJD today. He was elected to the State Assembly twice in 2009 and 2014 on BJD ticket.
He was dropped from this time from the list of candidate. He is expected to contest election an independent candidate.
