Ganjam: Two goat herders sustained critical injuries in a bee attack near D Nuapalli village of Chikili panchayat under Khallikote police limits in Ganjam district on Tuesday evening.
The victims have been identified as Ganesh Das of D Nuapalli village and Sudarshan Das of Chikili village.
According to reports, Ganesh and Sudarshan were grazing their goats in a field near D Nuapalli village and when they were returning home with their goats in the evening, hundreds of bees suddenly came from nowhere and attacked the two goat herders. While Ganesh Das fell to the ground some distance away, Sudarshan jumped into a nearby pond for protection.
Sudarshan had two to three hundred bees attached to his body and pulled out some of them in the water. Even when he reached the medical center, some bees were attached to his body. They were removed at the medical center. Hearing the screams of both of them, the locals brought them to the Khallikote Community Health Center. Ganesh Das’ condition is very critical and he has been shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
