Two Held With Country-Made Pistol, Rifle-Like Weapons In Brajrajnagar

Brajrajnagar (Jharsuguda): Police arrested two youths and seized three illegal firearms during vehicle checking and patrolling at Golchakkar Chowk in Jharsuguda district, police said.

A team led by SI Prabhakar Patra was conducting blocking and checking when it intercepted two youths travelling on a Yamaha R-15 motorcycle (OD 02 AY 1304) on suspicion. The accused were identified as Santosh Dang alias Jukulu (24) of Bichhuapada, Kudaloi, and Muturu Munda alias Karan (28) of Gangapada, Kudaloi.

During a search conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, police allegedly recovered a country-made pistol from Munda’s waist. Examination of his mobile phone also revealed photographs of two rifle-like weapons. Based on information obtained during questioning, police subsequently raided his house at Gangapada and recovered the two weapons allegedly concealed there.

Police said Munda told investigators that he had procured the weapons from Bishal Dang of Bichhuapada. The seizures comprised one country-made pistol, two rifle-like weapons and the motorcycle. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of law, and further investigation is underway.
