Cuttack: Two persons sustained head injuries after a clash broke out between two factions of a political party at Sardarkharida village under Badasamantrapur gram panchayat under Choudwar police limits of Cuttack district on late Sunday night.
Reportedly, the fight broke out between the factions over distributing cash for votes. The injured persons have been admitted to SCB Medical College & Hospital. Based on a complaint lodged by one group, Choudwar Police have initiated a probe into the violence.
In yet another incident in the district, two persons were detained by villagers of Manitri in Athagarh block for allegedly distributing cash for votes on late Sunday night.
Similarly, two shops were set on fire by some miscreants at Ratapat village under Badamba police limits of the district last night. The shops belonged to Suresh Kanhar and Mihir Pradhan. The miscreants also torched a four-wheeler of Pradhan.
Following the incident, Badamba Police have initiated a probe into the matter and two platoons of police force has been deployed in the area. All shops and business establishments have been closed.
