Nabarangpur: In a tragic incident, two youths were killed on Saturday after their motorcycle collided with a stationary truck on the under-construction Bharat Mala road near Korabela under Raighar police station limits in Nabarangpur district.

According to reports, a goods-laden truck had been stranded by the roadside for the past three days due to a mechanical breakdown. The victims, identified as Rohit Pujari and Raju Pande, both residents of Kacharapara, were travelling at high speed when they lost control of their motorbike and rammed into the rear of the stationary vehicle. The impact was so severe that both died on the spot.

Following the accident, Raighar police reached the site, seized the bodies, the truck, and the motorcycle, and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Locals have expressed concern over the increasing number of accidents on the under-construction Bharat Mala stretch, attributing the recurring mishaps to reckless speeding and poor visibility in certain sections of the road. Residents have urged authorities to enforce stricter speed checks and improve safety measures to prevent further loss of lives.
