Bhubaneswar: Electrocution claimed two lives in separate incidents under Rasola and Gondia police stations in Dhenkanal district.
In the first incident, a 3-year-old girl died after coming in contact with a live electric wire at Dhanianali village under Gondia police station. The deceased has been identified as Trisha Munda, daughter of Vishidi Munda, who resides near the Ashram School.
According to information, the girl was playing at home when she accidentally came in contact with an electric wire hanging inside the house. She sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
In another tragic incident, 51-year-old Upma Behera of Ragadi Sahi in Bedapada village under Rasola police station lost her life after touching a solar fencing wire.
Upma and her daughter were going to the village pond behind their house to take bath when she accidentally came in contact with the solar fencing wire laid on the way. She was critically injured and taken to Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital, but could not be saved.
On receiving information, Rasola police reached the spot, seized the solar fencing wire and detained a person who had allegedly laid the wire. An investigation has been started into the incident.
