Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed after being trampled by tuskers in two separate cases in Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal districts of Odisha on Saturday.
In Mayurbhanj, an 80-year-old tribal man identified as Ramta Kala died after being trampled by a wild elephant in the Badampahada area under Rairangpur Forest Range.
The incident occurred when Kala went to answer nature’s call in the forest and was suddenly attacked by the elephant.
In a separate incident in Dhenkanal district, a 46-year-old man from Telegana’s Nalgonda district, was killed by a tusker near Nimbahali-Gulehi Road under the Dhenkanal Range. Rudrarapu Saidulu had parked his vehicle on the side of the road and stepped aside to relieve himself when the elephant attacked him.
Upon being informed, forest officials reached the spot and launched an investigation into both incidents. The bodies were seized, and post-mortem procedures were initiated.
