Road Accidents

Bhubaneswar: Two people were killed and another was injured in separate road accidents in Sundargarh and Nayagarh districts on Thursday.

In the first incident, a young man died and another was injured when their motorcycle lost control while returning from a village fair and crashed into a tree near Rampur village under Binka police limits.

The deceased was identified as Krushna Tandi, while the injured person was Naresh Barik. Both were from Kamira village.

Initially, both were found in critical condition and were rushed to the Binika Community Health Center (CHC).

Unfortunately, Krushna Tandi succumbed to his injuries at the medical center, while Naresh’s condition remained critical, prompting his transfer to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla for further treatment. Acting on a tip-off, the Binka police reached the spot, investigated the scene, and seized the motorcycle.

In a separate incident, a man died when his truck fell into a culvert near Barihapita village under Daspalla police limits in Nayagarh district.

The driver, identified as Bonnisan Khan from Jirodih village in Koderma district, Jharkhand, was transporting cement from Visakhapatnam to Sundargarh.

According to reports, when Bonnisan crossed the culvert near Barihapita village, the truck overturned, trapping him inside.

Acting on a tip-off, firefighters reached the spot and used cutters to free his body from the vehicle, but he was already dead due to the impact.

The Daspalla police have now launched an investigation into the matter.
