Bhubaneswar: At least two persons were killed after a bus carrying over 50 passengers overturned while negotiating a curve at Phiringia in Kandhamal district on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, the bus was heading towards Phulbani from Muniguda of Rayagada district. The vehicle lost control over the wheels and overturned near Phiringia.
Some of the passengers are believed to be trapped under the vehicle. With the help of local people, fire services personnel and and police rescued the passengers and admitted them to Phiringia Community Health Centre.
Around 50 passengers sustained injuries, some of them critically, in the accident. The passengers who are in critical condition have been sent to the district headquarters hospital.
The death toll is expected to rise as several passengers’ condition is stated to be critical.
