Bhubaneswar: Two low-pressure systems are expected to form over the Bay of Bengal, one on September 23 and another on September 26. The second low-pressure system may intensify into a depression and cross the Odisha coast on September 27. This weather system is likely to bring widespread heavy rainfall to the state, according to the prediction of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to the forecast, the rainfall activity under the influence of low-pressure is expected to intensify on September 27 and 28, with the northern regions of the state likely to experience the most significant impact. The second low-pressure system is likely to move west-northwestwards and later travel across central India.

As per the prediction, this weather system is likely to bring widespread heavy rainfall to the state, particularly between September 25 and October 1.

The continuous rainfall may further cause the water levels in various rivers of North Odisha, including the Mahanadi River basin, to rise.
