Malkangiri/Bhubaneswar: Two persons were brutally killed in two separate incidents in Odisha during the last 24 hours. In the first incident, a man was lynched and hung from a tree in Mayurbhanj district, while the body of a youth was recovered from Harbhanga block in Boudh district.
In the first incident, a man was lynched and hung from a tree for allegedly attacking a woman in Majhiguda village of Akhalwada under Korkonda police limits of Malkangari district. The deceased has been identified as Dek Madkami.
According to reports, Dek attacked a neighboring woman with a knife, injuring her grievously. As the news spread, the woman’s relatives dragged Dek and thrashed him up. Later, after the death of the victim, local villagers hanged his head from a tree.
On being informed, police arrived at the spot and sent the body for postmortem.
In the second incident, the body of a youth was recovered from Takuda village of Harbhanga block in Odisha’s Boudh district on Thursday.
According to the latest reports, the deceased has been identified as Ramesh Barik of Cheli Lendi village in Boudh. It is suspected that Ramesh was murdered.
Local police reached the spot, seized the dead body, and sent it for postmortem. The police have launched an investigation into the matter and preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was murdered.
