Sundargarh: In a shocking incident, two minor siblings lost their lives after being bitten by a venomous snake at Jhirpani under Chandiposh police station in Sundargarh district.
The victims, 6-year-old Evam Lakra and his 7-year-old sister Evelina Lakra, were residents of Jhirpani village in Tamada panchayat.
According to reports, the snake entered the family’s house late at night while the children were asleep. The family members discovered the children showing signs of uneasiness and rushed them to Rourkela Government Hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.
The Chandiposh police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. The police team visited the spot, seized the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examination.
The sudden demise of the two young children has sent shockwaves throughout the village, casting a pall of gloom over the locality.
