Malkangiri: The bodies of two Class VII students who had been missing for two days were discovered hanging from a tree in a forest near Biliguda village under MV 79 police station limits in Malkangiri district.
The deceased students have been identified as Jyoti Haldar (12) from MV 72 village and Mandira Sodi (13) from MV 126 village.
According to reports, Jyoti, daughter of Timir Haldar, and Mandira, daughter of Waga Sodi, had gone to school on Thursday but never returned home. Concerned, their families lodged a missing complaint at MV 79 police station.
On Saturday morning, some local women spotted the two students hanging from a mango tree in a forested area about 3 km from the school. The tragic discovery quickly spread through the village, prompting authorities to take action.
Malkangiri SDPO Sachin Patel and a team from MV 79 police station reached the site and initiated an investigation. The bodies will undergo an autopsy once a forensic team from Koraput arrives to conduct a scientific examination.
Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths.
