Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police in Cuttack have arrested two more persons in connection with the sale of spurious drugs. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has gone up to eight.
” Today we have arrested two persons. They are Shiv Kumar Kyal (49) of Nimchoudi under Lalbag police limits in Cuttack and Mahendra Kumar Modi (44) of Nayasarak under Lalbag police limits in Cuttack. They have been arrested against Purighat police station case no.221,” informed Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra addressing a presser here today.
The DCP stated that during the investigation the police and Asst Drugs Controller it was found that Kayal of M/s Kyal Agencies and Modi of M/s Mahavir Prasad Radheshyam were authorized stockists of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Company and as per the rules of their business they ought to purchase medicines manufactured by Glenmark from its authorized C & F (carrying & forwarding) Agent.
“We found that instead of procuring the medicines from the authorized C&F Agent of the Company, to earn abnormal profits they had purchased huge quantities of medicines from the other two who were earlier arrested by Purighat police and had circulated in the market. More than 8,000 spurious Telma-40 & Telma-AM tablets were seized from them,” Mishra informed.
