Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack on Monday arrested two more persons in connection with the firing incident that took place late Friday night near Damana Chhak under Chandrasekharpur police limits.
The incident occurred at Cosmos Bar, where a security guard sustained a bullet injury to his leg after allegedly being shot by the accused. The latest arrests bring the total number of people held in the case to 13.
The arrested have been identified as Dadhibamana Jena and Krushna Chandra Barik. This was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, S. Dev Datta Singh.
“Yesterday, 11 persons were arrested in connection with the case. Today, we have arrested two more accused. The incident took place two days ago, when a group of persons attempted to force a security guard to keep the bar open beyond permitted hours. After being denied entry and escorted out, they returned around 4 am and opened fire, injuring the guard,” Singh said.
He added that firearms used in the attack have been recovered from the possession of the accused.
The Commissioner further stated that the crackdown on criminal activities in the city will continue.
“We are committed to taking immediate action whenever a crime occurs in Bhubaneswar. Our team ensures swift investigation and timely closure of such cases,” he said.
