Two Poachers Arrested With Seizure Of Deer Horns, Hide In Balasore

Balasore: Two wildlife poachers were arrested and hide and horns of spotted deer seized from their possession in Ouapada of Balasore district.

Acting on an intelligence input of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), a joint team of local forest officials and WCCB officials raided houses at Chakapada and Digitentuli village under Khaira police limits late on Saturday night and arrested two wildlife poachers namely Chintamani Prusty and Santosh Mohanty.

Prusty is a resident of Digitentuli while Mohanty belongs to Chakapada, a forest official said.

The team comprising Assistant Conservator of forest (ACF) and Range officer Manoranjan Naik made the seizures and arrest in Oupada range.

The poachers killed the deer and removed the horns and hide of the animal.

The arrested persons have been booked under sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
