Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Sambalpur has convicted two retired officials of the Office of the Project Director, Watershed in Deogarh, in a Corruption case.
The officials, Pabitra Mohan Naik, former Junior Engineer, and Suresh Chandra Satpathy, former Junior Soil Conservation Assistant, were found guilty of misappropriating government funds by recording inflated measurements of water harvesting structure work.
The court sentenced each of them to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000.
Following the conviction, the Odisha Vigilance will initiate proceedings to stop the pension benefits of the two retired officials.
