Bhubaneswar: Two separate bus accidents in Odisha on Sunday left one person dead and 21 others injured. In Ganjam district, Ratna Bisoyi, 45, of Sriram Nagar, died when a bus carrying school employees overturned near Barihapathara.
The bus was headed to a picnic spot near Chikiti when the accident occurred, injuring 15 others. Five are in critical condition at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, while others are stable at Patrapur Hospital.
In Gajapati district, six people were injured when a bus overturned near Badamansing. The vehicle was carrying picnickers from Dhenkanal and Khurda to Mahendragiri. The injured were treated at Paralakhemundi hospital and discharged.
Local residents helped rescue the injured in both incidents. Police are investigating the causes of the accidents.
