Two Sisters Drown In A Pond In Puri

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, two sisters drowned in a pond at Davar village under Gop police limits in Puri district on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Smrutirekha Baral and Subhashree Baral.

According to reports, Smrutirekha and Subhashree had gone to the village pond to take a bath when the mishap occurred.

Since they did not return home their family members and fellow villagers searched for them. While searching they rescued them from the pond in an unconscious state.

They were immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Gop.

However, they were declared dead by the doctor at the CHC.

Gop police have launched an investigation into the matter.
