Bhubaneswar: Three government functionaries including two retired teachers and a retired peon of a school in Angul were convicted by a vigilance court in a bribery case
Goura Chandra Sahoo, retired headmaster, Pradeep Kumar Pradhan, retired Assistant Teacher and Dhruba Charana Pradhan, retired Peon of Ram Deo High School at Kishoreganj in Boinda of Angul were charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Special Judge Vigilance Angul for accepting a bribe from a complainant to show undue favour to him in Supplementary HSC (High School Certificate) examination.
The court sentenced three of them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years each and a fine of Rs 5,000 each. In default of payment of fine, they have to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of two months each more.
The vigilance department will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of pension of three convicts.
