Two Temples Looted

Balasore: In a shocking incident, two temples in the Soro area of Balasore district were looted late Saturday night, with idols, ornaments, and other valuable items worth approximately Rs 13 lakh stolen.

According to reports, priests visiting the Laxminarayan and Brahmani temples for morning worship discovered that the donation boxes, along with idols and precious ornaments, had been forcibly taken.

The stolen items from the Laxminarayan temple include a silver crown, a gold armlet, and a gold moon necklace. From the Brahmani temple, thieves made away with an eight-metal (ashtadhatu) crown and ten silver crowns.

Upon realizing the theft, the priests immediately informed the local residents, who in turn alerted the Soro police. On receiving the information, the Soro police promptly reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.

This incident follows a series of temple thefts in the area, with five temples reportedly robbed on June 21.
