Bhubaneswar: Two weavers from Odisha were honoured by President Droupadi Murmu during the 12th National Handloom Day celebrations in New Delhi on Friday in recognition of their outstanding achievement in weaving and innovation.
Ram Meher from Bargarh received the prestigious Sant Kabir Handloom Award 2025, the country’s highest honour for handloom weavers. Prafulla Kumar Sahoo from Jagatsinghpur was conferred the National Handloom Award 2025.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated the two weavers through a post on his X handle stating: “On the occasion of National Handloom Day, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Shri Ram Meher of Bargarh and Shri Prafulla Kumar Sahoo of Jagatsinghpur, who have been honoured by the Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu with the Sant Kabir Handloom Award-2025 and the National Handloom Award-2025 respectively.”
