Bhubaneswar: Two women members of the outlawed CPI (Maoists) laid down their arms before the Odisha Police in Odisha’s Boudh district on Tuesday to join the mainstream, IGP (Southern Range) Jai Narayan Pankaj told the media today.
The IGP said that the two surrendered Maoists have been identified as Manisha Thati and Champa Koram, both residents of the Bijapur district in neighbouring Chhattisgarh. These women Maoists were associated with the Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of the CPI (Maoist).
Manisha and Champa were active members of the Maoist outfit for the last five years.
It is worth mentioning here that the KKBN division of the CPI (Maoist) has been active in the Boudh and Kandhamal areas during the last six months. The outfit was involved in several fire exchanges with the security personnel in the region during this period, the IGP said.
