Two Women Succumb To Burns At AIIMS After Cylinder Blast In Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: Two women who had sustained injuries in a fire mishap died while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

The deceased women have been identified as Hemlata Behera and S. Rebati Reddy.

The incident occurred in Chandnabadi village under Chikiti block in Ganjam district on Wednesday.

According to reports, the fire broke out from a gas cylinder in Rebati’s house while Hemlata was visiting her. Both women were severely burnt and were rescued by family members and neighbours. They were rushed to a local hospital before being referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for further treatment, where they succumbed to their injuries.

Despite doctors’ efforts, Hemlata died on Wednesday while Rebati followed suit on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the local MLA has expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased.
