Bhubaneswar: Two labourers died due to asphyxiation after entering a newly constructed septic tank in Chandili village under Kotpad police station limits in Koraput district on Thursday.
The incident occurred when the workers went inside the tank to remove the centring of the newly built structure. The three labourers reportedly fell unconscious after complaining of breathlessness.
The deceased have been identified as Arana Pratiasha (40) of Manchahandi village and Hemanta Thakur (40) of Dhanapunji village. All three were rushed to the Chandili Primary Health Center. Doctors declared two of them brought dead, while the third worker was referred for further treatment.
The critically injured labourer has been identified as Padmanath Baghel (37) of Dhanapunji village. He is currently undergoing treatment in Jaipur and his condition is stated to be critical. Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident
