Dhenkanal: Fourteen cows were killed in a road accident on National Highway No 53 near Barihapur under Parjang police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on late Wednesday night.
According to reports, several cows were sleeping on the highway at Barihapur on National Highway No. 53 late last night. Suddenly, they were hit by an unidentified vehicle killing 14 cows and injuring two on the spot.
While the dismembered corpses of the cows were lying on the highway, the local people tried to save the injured cows. The accident triggered anger and resentment among the local residents who staged a brief road block on the national highway demanding compensation to the owners.
