Bhubaneswar: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is set to visit Odisha to inaugurate the 84th Annual Session of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC), scheduled from November 7 to 10, 2025, at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.

Odisha Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan confirmed about the development on Thursday.

This marks the sixth time the state will host the prestigious event. The four-day congress will see participation from around 2,000 IRC representatives, alongside 3,500 engineers and chief engineers from various states. The event will also attract VVIPs, senior officials, and prominent experts from the road and transport sector.

Gadkari, who traditionally opens IRC sessions, is expected to address attendees, focusing on the government’s initiatives in road development, safety, and technological advancements.

“This is a significant opportunity for Odisha to showcase its commitment to infrastructure development. We expect Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and other dignitaries to join us, as per the program details,” said Harichandan.

The event promises to foster discussions on innovations and strategies to enhance India’s road and transport infrastructure. Besides, renowned academicians and professors from premier institutions like IIT Bhubaneswar and NIT Rourkela will showcase case studies focusing on ongoing initiatives, successful projects, and advancements in road safety during the event.
