Bhubaneswar: The Vice-Chancellor of the State-run Utkal University has suspended an associate professor of the Department of Economics for allegedly harassing a woman student sexually.
The suspension was ordered based on the report of the internal sexual harassment cell. The accused professor has been asked not to leave the headquarters without prior permission.
A student alleged that she was subjected to sexual harassment by the associate professor in August. She alleged that she had gone to the chamber of the professor to bring some study materials when the latter harassed her sexually.
The sexual harassment cell of the varsity had inquired into the incident after a complaint was lodged by the victim.
