Bhubaneswar: Reinforcing its commitment to advancing early childhood education and development, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, undertook a large-scale distribution drive of school bags and water bottles across 175 Vedanta Nand Ghars in Jharsuguda district.

As part of the initiative, company leadership visited villages across the district to distribute learning kits to more than 2,300 children, aged between two to six years old, equipping them with essential resources to support their educational journey while also encouraging greater school participation.

Deployed under the aegis of the Anil Agarwal Foundation and undertaken in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Nand Ghar is the flagship community development project of the Vedanta Group. It reimagines anganwad is as modernized hubs of women and child development equipped with smart learning tools and sustainable infrastructure.

Powered by solar energy, they are equipped with smart TVs, interactive learning modules and BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) features where walls, floors and spaces are designed to support activity-based learning. Regular interventions such as immunization support, health awareness sessions and caregiver engagement help strengthen early childhood development.

Speaking on the initiative, C Chandru, CEO – Vedanta Aluminium, Jharsuguda, said, “At Vedanta Aluminium, we believe that meaningful progress begins with investing in our communities. Through Vedanta’s Nand Ghar project, we are strengthening the foundations of learning and development for young children to facilitate their long-term success.”

Vedanta Aluminium continues to support these centers through school readiness initiatives, and periodic health and nutrition campaigns, along with regular outreach efforts to maximize community participation. These efforts help build strong learning foundations, while also supporting women’s direct participation in the development of their families and communities.

In FY26, Vedanta Aluminium’s community development efforts in Jharsuguda positively impacted the lives of more than 7 lakh people across 61 villages, ensuring sustainable, inclusive growth.
