Bhubaneswar: Veteran Congress leader and former Odisha Minister Damburudhara Ulaka died at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday night. He was 87.
“My father was unwell for a long time and undergoing treatment at a Bhubaneswar-based hospital. He died at 11 pm last night,” informed his son Nilamadhav Ulaka.
Apart from his son Nilamadhav, his daughters and wife were at his bedside when he left for the heavenly abode.
He has been unwell for the last few days and undergoing treatment at a Bhubaneswar-based private hospital.
Apart from being a 7-time MLA from Bishmaktak, he also held the posts of Home Minister and Forest Minister, Excise Minister, Urban Development Minister and Water and Sanitation Minister.
He is survived by three daughters, son and wife.
It is learnt that his body will be taken to Bhubaneswar-based Congress Bhawan before being carried to his residence at Bankili in Rayagada district.
A native of Kalyansinghpur of Rayagada district, he was born to politician Shyam Khan Ulaka and Yashoda Ulaka in 1937.
