Bhubaneswar: In a crackdown on corruption, the Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested Prasanna Kumar Swain, Assistant Engineer (Civil) of the Irrigation Division, Bhanjanagar in Ganjam for possessing disproportionate assets.
Following a search of Swain’s properties, investigators found him in possession of six multi-storied buildings, including two palatial four-storey buildings worth approximately Rs 2.4 crore and Rs 2.3 crore respectively, five high-value homestead plots, deposits exceeding Rs 23.94 lakhs and gold weighing approximately 200 grams.
Swain failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets, leading to his arrest. He will be produced in court today, said Vigilance sources.
Berhampur Vigilance registered a case in this connection against Swain.
