Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested Pradeep Kumar Dash, a Junior Assistant in the office of the District Education Officer (DEO), Balasore, for possessing disproportionate assets.
According to sources, searches conducted on Dash’s properties revealed a multi-storeyed building in Balasore, a double-storeyed market complex with 20 shops in Sergarh, Balasore, worth over Rs 1.09 crore, and six high-value plots, among other assets. Dash was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets.
Following his arrest, Dash will be produced in court today. A case has been registered against him.
Notably, vigilance teams comprising two Additional SPs, four DSPs, seven Inspectors, five ASIs, and other supporting staff on Friday launched simultaneous searches at the properties of Dash on the strength of search warrants issued by the Special Vigilance Judge, Balasore at six places in Balasore district. He was found to have possessed assets disproportionate to his known source of income.
