Bhubaneswar: A team of the Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested absconding Assistant Tax Collector of Dhenkanal Municipality Santosh Kumar Roul from Hyderabad for alleged misappropriation of government funds to the tune of Rs 77,94,709.
According to an official press release, Roul was arrested by a team of the Odisha Vigilance from Hyderabad on Sunday was produced before the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate -XIII, Kukatpally, Hyderabad on Monday and has been brought to Cuttack on transit remand for production before Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. He will be forwarded to the Court on Wednesday.
The release said that during the last six months accused Roul had kept changing locations by changing mobile SIMs, a team of the Odisha Vigilance kept a close watch over his movement and activities through the mobile tracking system.
A team of the Vigilance led by one DSP, two Inspectors and one ASI succeeded in nabbing Roul from Hyderabad on Sunday.
Vigilance has launched a special drive to nab absconding public/Govt. servants who are evading the process of law. Multiple teams have been formed and raids are being conducted after collecting inputs of the suspected whereabouts of the absconders.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
