Bhubaneswar: In a major anti-corruption drive, the Odisha Vigilance arrested Padmalochan Nayak, Executive Engineer of CADA (Command Area Development Authority), Sambalpur Division, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to the Vigilance release, Nayak was taken into custody and will be forwarded to the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.
Searches conducted by the Vigilance team on his properties revealed significant undeclared assets, including 3 buildings, including one multi-storeyed building measuring 18,840 sq ft located at Kataka. Besides, Vigilance sleuths unearthed 18 valuable plots of land, cash amounting to Rs 3.45 lakh, three four-wheelers, two JCB machines, one tractor, one trailer, and other movable assets.
The official could not provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets during the investigation.
A case has been registered against him at Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station vide Case No. 07/2026 under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
Further investigation into the case is continuing.
