Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials have unearthed assets worth over Rs 7 crore during house searches on the properties of Jagannath Sethy, Executive Engineer, Rural Works (Electrical) Division, Berhampur and his family members.
Following allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income against Sethy, five teams of the Vigilance led by 1 Additional SP, 4 DSsp, 10 Inspectors and other staff today conducted simultaneous searches at five places in Khordha and Ganjam districts which include his ancestral house at Putabagada and office room at Ambapua in Berhampur.
The movable and immovable assets belonging to Sethy and his family members detected so far are one five-storeyed building at Gajapati Nagar, 11th Lane Extension, Berhampur worth about Rs.1.68 Crore; one four-storeyed building at AIIMS Nagar, 3rd Lane Bhubaneswar worth about Rs 1.5 crore; one four-storeyed building at Gajapati Nagar, 8th Lane, Berhampur worth about Rs 90 lakh; Single storeyed building at village Putabagada, Chatrapur worth around Rs 9.53 lakhs; 12 plots in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, Jatni and Berhampur; Bank deposits in name of Sethy and his family members worth over Rs 85 lakhs; 2 four-wheelers (Mahindra XUV & Hyundai Creta) worth Rs 25 lakhs; Rs 19,88,790 in cash; 3 two-wheelers worth Rs 2,77,163 lakhs; and gold jewelry and household articles.
However, the Technical Wing of the Vigilance will carry out a detailed assessment of the value of some properties as it suspects that there could be undervaluation which may increase the value further.
The Vigilance has said that further searches are continuing and unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase.
