Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance Forest Wing has conducted searches at the residence of Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Kendu Leaf, Keonjhar, and seized a large quantity of teak wood furniture and artefacts. The seized items are currently being measured and evaluated.
The searches were carried at the Angul residence of DFO Nityananda Nayak.
Following the searches, Nayak is being brought to Keonjhar for further investigation, where his official quarter and office will be searched. A separate team is verifying bank deposits and investments made in the name of Nayak and his family members.
The Vigilance Technical Wing is also assessing Nayak’s immovable assets, which have raised suspicions. Notably, Nayak had declared only 12 plots in his property statements, prompting investigators to question the source of his substantial asset generation.
Nayak is being interrogated about the assets and his failure to disclose details in his property statements submitted to the government each year. The investigation is underway.
