Vigilance Foils Illegal Sawmill Operations, Seizes Rs 20 Lakh Worth Of Timber And Equipment

Bhubaneswar: In a significant crackdown on forest crimes, the Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance conducted a joint raid on two illegal sawmills in Cuttack district on Thursday. The operation targeted sawmills operating without valid licenses in Satyabhamapur and Balarampur villages.

During the raid, the vigilance team seized sawmill accessories, valuable timber, and a tractor worth approximately Rs 20 lakhs. The seized materials were found to be part of an illicit operation, highlighting the extent of illegal logging and wood processing activities in the region.

The investigation is underway. The Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance is working to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
