Rayagada: The vigilance sleuths apprehended the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Bisam Cuttack and Clerk-cum-Accountant, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 80,000
CDPO Sushila Sabar and Rama Chandra Patra, demanded the bribe for issuing an appointment letter to a selected Anganwadi Worker in the area.
According to reports, the accused officials had demanded Rs. 1 lakh from the candidate, a Dongariya Kandha lady, for processing her appointment. On June 20, 2025, Rama Chandra Patra, Clerk-cum-Accountant, took Rs. 20,000 as the first instalment via UPI transaction, and today, both officials were caught while taking the remaining bribe amount of Rs. 80,000.
The Vigilance team recovered and seized the tainted bribe money, and simultaneous searches are underway at two locations to investigate potential disproportionate assets. A case has been registered, and an investigation is in progress against the accused officials.
Notably, Rama Chandra Patra was previously involved in another corruption case in 2014, which is currently sub-judice in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.
