Bhubaneswar: The Sundargarh wing of the Vigilance department on Monday caught the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Kutra Jayashree Pattnaik red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 2,000 from an Anganwadi worker.
The CDPO demanded a bribe for not submitting an adverse report against the worker following a surprise visit to the Anganwadi Centre. The total bribe amount demanded was Rs 5,000, with Rs. 2,000 being the first instalment.
The entire bribe amount has been recovered and seized from the accused. Following the trap, Vigilance sleuths launched searches at two locations linked to Pattnaik to investigate disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, at Rourkela Vigilance Police Station. Further investigation is underway against the accused CDPO. A detailed report is expected soon.
