Bhubaneswar: The vigilance sleuths today unearthed huge assets worth crores linked to Nayagarh MVI Panchanan Behera during searches at seven locations today.
The properties include a double storeyed building located at Sailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar with area over 3000 Sqft, a single storeyed building located at Satya Vihar, Pandara, Bhubaneswar with area approx 2400 Sqft, 31 plots in prime area in Bhubaneswar, of which 10 are benami plots.
The Registered Sale Deed (RSD) value is approximately Rs 2.10 Cr. However, the actual value is likely to be much higher. Undervaluation of the plots during registration is suspected, vigilance stated.
A thorough probe has been initiated in this regard. The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above buildings/ plots is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
Other assets found by the vigilance are bank & insurance deposits worth Rs 72.80 Lakhs, Cash, Gold and household articles worth over Rs 15 Lakhs, Expenditure over Rs.50 Lakhs made by Behera towards Medical Education (MBBS) of his son at SOA, University, Bhubaneswar.
The anti graft agency also unearthed four benami vehicles including a four wheeler (Maruti Ritz) and three two wheelers.
The MVI is being examined to ascertain the source of the assets. Further searches are continuing. Unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase, vigilance said.
On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches were launched on the properties of Panchanan Behera, MVI, Nayagarh on Tuesday in Bhubaneswar, Khurdha, Cuttack and Nayagarh.
Seven teams of Odisha Vigilance comprising 6 DSPs, 3 Inspectors, 8 ASIs, and other staff conducted the search on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
