Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials today unearthed assets worth over Rs 2.26 crore including bank deposits worth Rs 1.12 crore during simultaneous searches on the properties of Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, Junior Engineer, Office of BDO, Talcher in Angul district.
One double-storeyed building at Kumunda; one single-storeyed building at Ambapal; 4 plots including 3 plots at Kumunda and 1 plot at Ambapal; bank deposits including fixed deposits worth Rs 1,11,71,285; one four-wheeler; 4 two-wheelers, insurance deposits worth Rs 12,56,515; gold ornaments weighing 261 gms worth Rs 10,44,000 and other movable and immovable properties, all totaling to over Rs 2.26 Crore have been unearthed during the house searches so far, the Vigilance said in a press note.
Following allegation of disproportionate assets against Sahoo, four teams of the Vigilance led by 4 DSsP, 8 Inspectors, and other staff conducted house searches at four places on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul.
Further searches are continuing, the press note added.
