Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths has unearthed Rs 28.7 Lakh Cash from the possession of Ambika Prasad Rath, an auditor with the Regional Director of Education (RDE) office during raid in a bribery case.
Rath was arrested on Tuesday for demanding and accepting a Rs 4,000 bribe from a college staffer. The bribe was for verifying service records and correcting pay fixation statements under the MACP scheme.
Rath was trapped by vigilance authorities in his office and the entire bribe amount was recovered. Searches at his home and office led to the seizure of Rs 28,70,900 in cash.
A case (Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 4 dated 24.03.2026) has been registered against Rath under Section 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and investigation is underway.
