Ganjam: An irate mob ransacked the Baguda Community Health Centre (CHC) in Odisha’s Ganjam district after the death of a 5-month-old owing to alleged medical negligence.

According to reports, Magi Naik, a resident of Neliabandha Sahi in Buguda, took her five-month-old to the Baguda CHC for vaccination on Wednesday. The baby was healthy after the vaccination and returned home. However, the child’s condition deteriorated at night and the body went cold. When the child was rushed to the health center at around 3.00 am on Thursday, doctors declared the infant ‘brought dead’.

Although the exact reason for the child’s death is yet to be ascertained, angry family members and local villagers alleged that the baby had died owing to medical negligence. They went on a rampage at the health centre and the situation was brought under control only after the arrival of police.
